We will focus the energy, the enthusiasm and the intellectual resources of the community on Andover's public schools.  In cooperation with the administration, the professional staff and the public, we will develop a system which will be the best in the nation. We will not do this today, or tomorrow, or even the day after, but we will do it.

AFE's Scholarship Award: The Fred Fitzgerald Award

Each year, AFE receives nominations of Andover High School seniors who exemplify the spirit and qualities of Fred Fitzgerald, the founder of AFE.  Fred was a true gentleman and inspiring leader.  The Fred Fitzgerald Award is made to a student whose behavior exemplifies honor and principle; whose mind is characterized by intellectual curiosity and excellence in scholarship; and whose conduct is respectful of our world.

The Andover community honored Fred Fitzgerald in December of 2006 with a special tribute at Memorial Hall Library.  Photos from the event are included in our photo gallery.  If you would like to make a donation to AFE in Fred's name, please send it to AFE, 36 Bartlett Street, Andover.
