Audience members cheer on their teams at the 2006 Andover Spelling Bee.  Not what you might imagine, the Bee has become a very lively community event, giving adults the chance to promote their school, business or organization while dressing up in crazy costumes, and students, parents and teachers the opportunity to display their school spirit. In the midst of it all, some very good spelling takes place to the delight and wonder of one and all. See below for past winning teams.

A Fun Evening in Support of Andover's Public Schools

The Andover Spelling Bee has been a tradition in Andover for ten years . A fun community event involving all the schools and lots of organizations and businesses, the Spelling Bee is one of AFE's major ways of generating funds for the grants benefiting thousands of students.

The Spelling Bee in made up of adult teams of four who write their answer on a white board. The best teams in each round meet in the championship round. The Bee attracts lots of kids and adults who cheer on their favorite team.  Most of the teams wear costumes and do silly things on stage. The Spirit Parade just before the final round allows all to show their team pride and enthusiasm.
